"Nibbles" (nibbles)

I've been playing a lot of Destiny lately. Probably more than I should. A few marathon days with questing basically any free minute I have. It's bringing to light an issue I've had with video games in general lately; the lack of friendlies.
I started wondering about things when I came across this lovely bunch of enemies. Huge targets with tiny heads. At first I thought "well this is just some Warhammer shit or something like that" where it's tons of armor protecting a regular sized body. Then I popped one's helmet off at close range and, well, the things are massive. I started thinking to myself "boy, I bet [members of the opposite gender of this species] are lookers, heh."
This led me to another thought. These guys, The Hive, The Fallen, all the enemies in Destiny are male (or male-bias). No chicks unless you choose to be one. How do these people function as a community / nation / species? During the course of the game plenty of time is spent traipsing through areas these peoples hold, whether political, strategic or otherwise. All the time, just enemy enemy enemy. Never a civilian, never a spouse, never a politician or even a pet. "Shoot everything that moves." That's gotten quite boring.
I miss games that had a more "social" aspect, even when it came to the enemies. Games where you learn about your foes, their way of life. I'd love to see a game come out where, when in "enemy territory", you may come across people who don't want to fight, or maybe want to assist the other side, or just want their life to continue and maybe all this bullshit disappear. Games that aren't "Okay [newest SuperSoldier to be born/engineered/revived], here's a gun. There's the baddies. Go wreck shit." I think I hoped Destiny wouldn't be just that but, in essence, it is.
Maybe I should just shut up and go back to playing Skrim.

Dude, I have to say it, Destiny is boring. Skrimscram is one of the best games ever made.

What you're saying is that you'd like to be able to shoot more women, children, innocent bystanders and pets?

Knowing is half the battle.
I agree with you. I notice the same things when I play games. I always want to know more, but it is useless because all you need to know is shoot and kill. There's no overarching strategy. No, attack over here to cause disorder in their ranks. Or things of significance to destroy to lower enemy morale.

I'd like to have the moral decision to make.

Destiny has so much potential! So much potential to have a wonderfully engaging story. So much potential to really merge the best of FPS with the best of MMO (or at least MO, it's not quite M). They're really cutting out a lot though. I can't stand it that I have no map. No idea of where I actually am. I dislike the weapon/armor/skill upgrading, because it doesn't say anywhere what to do to earn the upgrades. Is it arbitrary? Is it precision shooting? Is it jumping everywhere and cracking your shins open? COME ON GIVE ME SOMETHING!
Yes I do love the Sky Rims. And Oblivion, and Arena (not the Quake III (but also yes Quake III)). Seriously looking forward to ESO coming out on the XBone because I don't own a computer that can play it :|

That's a shame. I was hoping it would have a thriving universe kind of like Mass Effect.

I'd like to play something where you don't shoot everything.

It should! And there is the possibility, through expansions or maybe the next installment. It does feel like Mass Effect Lite. I hope Bungie changes up here and doesn't try to make this Halo++ because that's just going to inevitably fail.

This is a good game not great. But the one thing that really annoys me is why cant we may matchmake on freaking story missions!?!? Geez.

Because if you have the ability to slaughter innocents, you also have the ability to protect them. This leads to the game world having a soul.
Look at Bioshock. You can kill the little sisters and harvest them or free them. Look at games like Fallout and Skyrim where you can kill just about any NPC. Even Battlefield 4 made you feel like the people you were fighting and killing were people.

Wait, are you being serious? The story is honestly piss poor dude, and I'm like the story-loving gamer type.

Yeah I'd like the option to choose on that too. Let me run myself, with friends, or choose friends for me.
One great aspect though is the injection of other players' parties into your own instance. That's neat, fun, and has led to some really cool situations - like 12 people firing on a Praetorian, trying (ineffectively in the end) to take it down.

I've never played any of the games you're talking about, but I always tried to shoot the dog in duck hunt.

Is there a private online co-op or is it just open to all? I'd heard leading up to the release, it was like Journey and just completely random who you are joined up with.

You can have two buddies in your fireteam. If you're running solo and come across another lone wolf, you can request and join them real-time, just slip right into their instance. That in itself is a great idea and is executed pretty well in game. Strike missions, if you're by your lonesome, you'll be matched up with other players before you start the mission

I suck at games where I have to shoot things. Give me a broadaxe.
